in Fresh/Geography/Geology/Rivers

After my visit to Glencar, I wondered how it compared to those of other nations worldwide.

  • 15 metresGlencar Waterfall, Leitrim
  • 20 metres – Dondalen – Tallest in Denmark- yes not so tall for a national record. I was unable to find a natural one in the Netherlands!
  • 20 metres – Torc Waterfall, Kerry
  • 27 metres – Saut-Mathurine, Haiti – I have been there. Great place to swim.
  • 44 metres – Dettifoss, Iceland – perhaps the most powerful falls in Europe
  • 51 metres – Niagara Falls – Very fmous but not a national high
  • 76 metres – Cautley Spout – Tallest in England
  • 93 metres – Devil’s Appendix – Tallest in Wales
  • 108 metres – Mosi-oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls – border between Zambia and Zimbabwe – classified as the largest waterfall in the world
  • 121 metres – Powercourt, Wicklow
  • 150 metres – Sruth in Aghaidh an Aird, Leitrim  (Water not running all year round)
  • 163 meters – Triberg – Tallest in Germany
