Heceta, Oregon, USA

Built in 1894, between Florence and Yachats, there is a lighthouse (from 1894) the 56-footas depicted in this postcard. The headland is named after Bruno de Heceta, a Spanish explorer who appeared in the 18th Century, but before that it has been a place where local people called the Siuslaw. Keep Reading

Long Beach Peninsula, Washington

The Long Beach Peninsula is found in western Washington state in the US. It is bounded on the west by the Pacific the Columbia River is to the south and and the east is Willapa Bay – not forgetting on the west the somewhat unmissable Pacific Ocean.
